Sweet Dreams (Death Note)

Light came into the control room and sighed. L was still staring at the wall of monitors, as he had been for almost two weeks straight. If he’d taken time out for sleep, Light hadn’t seen it, and it was starting to affect him. Every once in a while, Light caught L’s head nodding slightly, only to snap back up to attention on his work. Shaking his own head, Light put down the tray he’d been carrying.

“L, have some of this. It’s dessert tea, you’ll like it.” He poured some and passed it to L, who had glanced up at the word ‘dessert.’ The detective swallowed some, paused, then drank some more.

“Thank you, Light-kun, it IS good,” he remarked, focusing back on his screens as he downed the rest of it. “What flavour was it?”

“NyQuil.”

L turned sharply to stare at Light, who took the empty cup from his unresisting fingers. “The case will still be here when you wake up,” Light told him.

The other man blinked, then smiled ruefully. “Pretty sneaky.”

“Yes, it was. Now let’s go to bed.”

“You say that now, when I’m about to be unconscious ….”
