Separation Anxiety (Prince of Tennis/X-Men)

This is a 15-minute prompt ficlet written with my alternate-universe, crossover, spanking RPG in mind, in which various unusually-gifted characters from several different fandoms (such as Prince of Tennis/Changechildren, Death Note, and X-Men, etc) all live in the same school. The prompt is posted at the end of the ficlet. Crossposted to 15minuteficlets

Separation Anxiety

I had important things to do today. One of them was NOT attending Power Practice.

However, I was on the schedule to do so at noon. I decided to call my limo, and have it meet me down the street from the mansion (not that I was afraid of the teachers catching me, but because I didn’t want to make the other kids jealous of my imminent escape.)

At approximately 11:45, my last morning class with Mystique ended and I headed for the door. My intention was to go straight outside, but my blue-skinned teacher had other ideas.

“Keigo, since you and I are both going to Power Practice, I’ll walk along with you.”

I tried not to openly frown at her. “That’s all right, Sensei, I need to go change first.”

She gave me a once over and said, “You look fine to me. Besides, only the superheroes are required to wear uniforms to practices; the Changechildren can wear regular clothes.”

“Perhaps,” I answered. “But with a variety of other powers being thrown around, I would rather not risk my cashmere sweater.” I started to turn toward the stairs, figuring she’d keep going and I could duck back down as soon as she was out of sight. No such luck. She lay a hand on my shoulder and steered me back toward the elevator leading to the Danger Room.

“Don’t worry about that,” she said confidently. “I’ll make sure you get a nice safe spot far from the messier powers.”

Now I couldn’t help but frown. “There is still about ten minutes before practice starts,” I said. “I’d like to make a quick phone call to my parents about our plans for this weekend.”

“There are three days left before the weekend. I’m sure your call can wait another hour and ten minutes.”

What was with this woman?! Was she so hard up for company that she couldn’t stand to be alone for the trip to the basement? I finally decided to pull out the non-fail kid-card, even if it would be embarrassing. Some sacrifices are necessary in order to meet other objectives.

“I have to go to the bathroom,” I declared, thinking, ‘Ha! Try and come up with a response for THAT!’

She looked down at me and met my gaze squarely. “You can hold it.”

It dawned on me then what was really going on here and I stopped walking to accuse her, “You overheard me on the phone with my limo driver.”

She stopped, too, and smiled mysteriously. “Now would I eavesdrop on a private conversation?”

“Then why can’t I take two minutes to relieve myself?!”

“Because I said so. Now come on; it’s almost time.” She took a not-so-gentle hold on my bicep and didn’t let go until we were solidly locked inside the Danger Room.

Mystique never did elaborate on my suspicions that she knew exactly what I was planning, but since I ended up being worked extra-hard in Power Practice, I’m certain of them.

From now on, I’ll make any rule-breaking phone calls in the bathroom with the water running.

Haha, that was hilarious! ^_^ I just love your Prince of Tennis and X-men crossovers, they're two of my favorite series! Trying to ditch practice in a limo is such an Atobe thing to do...XD
I'm glad you've enjoyed them, they're fun to write. :D
