Love Forgotten (Kamen Rider Den-O)

Sakurai Yuuto added more sugar to the coffee, then a little more. He glanced toward the owner of the Milk Dipper; his lost fiancée, Airi. She hummed to herself as she ground more coffee beans, a blissful, somewhat vacant smile on her pretty face. She wasn’t the same since losing her memories of the older Sakurai, the man who was Yuuto’s future self.

It was beyond strange for Yuuto to be near Airi as a teenager now, unable to tell her that she had been engaged to his older personage, but that he’d sacrificed her memories of him to save their child from Kai and the Imagin. The more Yuuto rode the train Zeroliner through time, fighting to protect those timelines the Imagin would destroy, the more everyone forgot the older Sakurai until he ceased to exist for them. He would never get to marry Airi, but at least she and Hana would be safe, even if she didn’t remember having his daughter, either.

Still, despite his sacrifices, Yuuto was able to be here with her now, even if it was only as a customer and her brother, Ryotaro’s, acquaintance. The memory was a variable thing, and he could not help but hold onto a thread of hope that someday she may yet remember the man she’d loved in the past that was lost.
