Note: I saw the prompt right after watching Kamen Rider Decade 25 (where the Shinkengers were guest-starring), and it seemed to fit what was shown about their relationship with Jii in that episode.

Lonely Vigil (Samurai Sentai Shinkenger)

Jii accepted that part of his role as mentor to the Shinkengers was to wait and worry. He did it every time they ran out the door to fight the latest outbreak of Gedoushu. As skilled and capable as they were, he reluctantly acknowledged that there always existed the possibility that they would not come back.

It was hard to imagine going back to life before the mansion was filled with the boisterous sounds of six lively teenagers. He thought fondly about Mako’s disastrous cooking attempts, Kotoha’s flute playing, Chiaki rapidly tapping on his Nintendo DS, Ryunosuke and Genta in each other’s faces about being either too serious or not enough so. And Takeru, their Lord, whom he’d raised as his own when his father died.

Now he felt that they were all his children, and they were out there, risking their lives. The fact that they were destined to do so didn’t make him any less anxious, although knowing they were well-trained was a small comfort he fervently clung to.

“Please come home,” he murmured, watching the front gate through the window as he waited.

I love how this shows Jii's viewpoint on when the Shinkengers go off to battle. He really does act as a surrogate father to all of them.
Did you watch Decade 25? It was nice the way they talked about it there. :)
I have watched it. I liked how it was stated that the picture with Jii and the Shinkengers was more like a parent and children than samurais.
Jii is like a (grand)father figure to them and you captured it very well. :3
Thank you very much! I'll admit I'm a sucker for these kind of relationships. :)
The struggle of the mentor watching the student do their destiny. Well Done.
Thank you! :D
