Hat Attack (Oretachi wa Tenshi da!/No Angel No Luck)
This is my first time writing in this fandom; please note I’ve only seen three episodes of this show with no subtitles so it’s entirely possible I’ve mangled everything. M/M relationships included. For those who don’t know, the show is a comedy about a quirky four-man detective team who call themselves Angels. The homepage for the series is here.

Darts didn’t like going into the garage much; it was dirty, smelled like oil, and there was never a place to sit down that wouldn’t stain his clothes. However, today he had no choice.
He strode into the work area purposefully, the tell-tale ‘clink’ of tools letting him know exactly where the person he sought would be. A pair of legs were sticking out from under a car, and he kicked one of them with the toe of his shoe. “Oiy! Get out here, I need to talk to you!”
Navi slid out to look up at him curiously. His long dark hair was held out of his face by a white bandanna, and there was a smudge of grease on his cheek. “What’s the matter with you? You never come here if you can help it.”
“I’ll say this only once; my hat is missing and I know you took it.” He held out his hand. “Give it back.”
Navi looked at him like he was a loon, and not the waterfowl kind. He got to his feet. “First of all, if I’d taken your hat, why would I have it on me? These coveralls get hot enough as it is without extra baggage packed inside. Second, why would I take your hat at all? That would leave you unable to aim worth beans!”
Darts puffed his cheeks out in annoyance. Sure, it was true that he was only able to fire his darts with precision if he was wearing his special hat, but he didn’t need Navi to remind him of it. “If you didn’t take it, then where is it?!”
At that moment, his phone rang. He gave the other man a warning glare before answering it. “Yes? … Oh, hi Jun … My what? ….” Darts glanced up at Navi guiltily. His companion had his arms crossed and an expectant eyebrow raised. “Um, thanks, Jun … Yeah, I’ll be back soon. Bye.” He hung up and smiled sheepishly. “Uh, it seems that I left my hat in my other jacket at headquarters.”
“Uh huh.” Navi nodded, then rolled his eyes upward in exaggerated consideration. “Now, what kind of apology should I require for this attack on my character …?”
“How about the traditional kind?” Darts suggested, then bowed. “I’m sorry for accusing you. It won’t happen again.”
“Hmm ….” Navi tapped the wrench he was holding against his own chin thoughtfully. “No, that’s not quite satisfying for having hurt my feelings so deeply. We’re good friends and fellow Angels, after all. To think that you’d believe I’d deprive you of your main defence like that –“
“Okay, okay!” Darts interrupted before violins could start playing. “What do you want?”
Navi grinned openly now. “An apology kiss!”
“Huh?!” Darts’ mouth fell open. “Are you kidding me?!”
“Nope.” Navi pulled the bandanna off his hair and let it fall free to his shoulders, then pointed to his cheek. “Plant a good one right here.”
Darts pressed his lips together in frustration. It wasn’t that Navi was unattractive – on the contrary. But right now he was wearing greasy coveralls and had dirt on his face, so maybe if he took a bath and changed clothes first –
“What are you waiting for?” Navi asked, the twinkle in his eyes clearly showing how much he was enjoying this. He leaned over and tapped his cheek again. “Right here.”
Darts sighed. There seemed to be no way around it, and at least it would just be on the cheek. He went up on his toes to kiss the taller man, only to have Navi turn his head at the last moment so that their lips met instead.
It took a moment for Darts to register what was happening, and another to realize he sort of liked it. Then he came to his senses and broke off the kiss, swinging at Navi’s jaw. His friend caught the fist and his grin widened.
“I accept your apology.”
Once again, Darts’ jaw dropped. “Except now you owe ME one!” he squeaked.
Navi’s gaze grew heated. “Then let me give it to you.” He tipped Darts’ chin up and kissed him again, fully and firmly. Darts’ mind reeled with the headiness of Navi’s soft lips and the arms that had found their way around him. I should pull away, he thought. Knee him in the groin, stomp on his instep ….
He had darts in his pocket. Even if he couldn’t hit the side of a barn without his hat, he could jab one into Navi’s shoulder –
Then it was too late. Somehow a point had been passed where he went from wanting to stop it to not wanting it to stop. He deepened the kiss himself.
A throat cleared nearby and both of them looked sharply over to where Cap stood watching them. He was holding Darts’ hat.
“I thought you might be missing this,” their leader said in amusement. “Jun said he found it in your other jacket. Since Navi went to all the trouble of hiding it there, as shown on the security camera footage we watched, it seemed a shame not to recognize his efforts.”
“Wait, what?” Darts turned from Cap to Navi accusingly. “YOU moved my hat to my other jacket? Why?!”
Now it was Navi’s turn to wear a sheepish smile. “I figured you’d think I took it, and when it was found you’d want to apologize for blaming me.” He winked. “Want me to apologize to you again now?”
Darts looked like he was going to explode when Cap added helpfully, “By the way, Darts, you’re covered in grease.”
The shorter man looked down at his clothes, stained from the close contact with Navi’s coveralls. In the next moment, he’d grabbed his hat from Cap and put it on, pulling out a pair of darts from his pocket.
Navi’s eyes widened and he took off at a run. “You’re too good a kisser to be this cranky!” he called over his shoulder. “And don’t forget, we’re Angels!”
“That’s okay, I’ll send you to Heaven!”
Cap watched Darts chase Navi, readying a shot as his target’s bad sense of direction took him out the back door. He’d be trapped in the yard out there. Cap shook his head and called Jun to let him know they’d be a little late getting back and to have the first aid kit ready.
He also asked him to access more footage, this time from the garage security camera. What had happened there today would make entertaining viewing that evening for all of them.

I love the bickering going on between Navi and Darts in the series (although I only understand a little bit of what they're saying myself), and it goes so well with their characterization here that I can't help but visualize their actions and expressions while reading this (like Darts being annoyed~). Oh, and choice phrases seem to repeat themselves in Japanese where my scant Japanese knowledge permits. It's like watching a scene that will never be filmed (unfortunately) 8D
And I love Caps' appearance. Way to add fuel to the fire XDD I'm sure everyone would want to re-watch their kisses >:D
Navi and Darts are already shaping up to be such a fun couple! ^_^
