Mele crept into Rio’s bedchamber silently. She’d come here before, to watch him sleep. As she approached the mat, she marvelled anew at how strong he looked, even in slumber. She sighed, wishing she didn’t have to leave, that she could cuddle beside him, warm and safe.

That was impossible, but there was something else she wanted to do that, as she gazed lovingly upon his sleeping face, she could no longer resist. Carefully, she bent down and softly pressed her lips to his.

Mele quickly left after that and did not see the responding smile that touched Rio’s lips.
