Sprefvent - Compilation 39 (Crossover)

The following wasn't written as a fic, but rather as (edited) excerpts from a spanking RPG called ‘Spanking Refugee Vent’ or ‘Sprefvent’ for short. In it I play characters from various fandoms including Prince of Tennis, Death Note, Garo, Fruits Basket, Gekirangers, Kamen Rider Den-O, etc. The PoT characters are based around my Changechildren AU fic, and so are not necessarily canon. Same-sex relationships are included. Please note that although spanking is the main topic in the RPG, characters are allowed to vent about other things, so not ALL excerpts may contain spanking.

In this particular compilation, Light’s segments were written by Bewize (bewize@yahoo.com). The belt-whipping incident referred to was detailed here: http://canadian-haruka.insanejournal.com/74306.html

Sprefvent - Compilation 39

By Haruka (haruka@ymail.com)

--

I know some of you were hanging around when my family arrived, so you got to see Watari, Mello, and Near in person. For those who did not, I am sure you will meet them soon. Watari is the older man who raised me, and Mello is the blonde boy with the Buster Brown haircut and the black leather outfit, chewing perpetually on a chocolate bar. Near is the quiet blonde in sock feet and pajamas, holding the toy robot.

I am not the most demonstrative of people, but it had been a long time, so I surprised Watari by hugging him, then embraced the bewildered boys as well.

“What’s wrong with Ryuuzaki?” Mello hissed over my shoulder.

“I think this place is getting to him,” Near remarked. “We should bring him home.”

“You do not have to call me Ryuuzaki here,” I told them. “They know me as L. And I assure you, I am fine. I am just glad to see you all after all this time.”

Watari smiled and patted my shoulder warmly. “And we you, my dear boy.”

The next several minutes were filled with introductions, as Professor Xavier was arriving with Logan (unfortunately), Batman, Ryuuzaki-sensei, Dr. McCoy, and Master Shafu (just seeing him made Mello swallow a chunk of chocolate without chewing it.) There were too many kids peering around corners at us to introduce everyone, but I knew you would meet them over the course of their visit.

“So,” Mello interrupted the adult banter, “where’s your criminal lover?”

“Mello,” Watari cautioned warningly, but Mello’s blue eyes were fixed steadily on me.

“His _boyfriend_ is right here,” Light-kun’s voice came from the top of the stairs. He made an impressive entrance as kids parted to let him descend and join us, locking eyes briefly with Mello before turning to Watari. “Yagami Light,” he said, bowing, like the well-mannered Japanese boy he is. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Watari-san.”

“You as well, Light-kun,” Watari said, and motioned to the boys. “This is Mello, and this is Near.”

“At last we meet,” Light-kun said, offering a smile from one boy to the other. “I’m sure we’ll enjoy getting to know each other this weekend.”

“Yes, we will certainly get to know you, Yagami Light,” Near said.

Mello smirked. “But I don’t know how much you’ll enjoy it.”

Light-kun’s expression held its smile, but I saw a familiar glint in his eyes. Still, he kept control, and I was proud of him.

“Let’s show them to where they’ll be staying and then you can all get comfortable and we can talk,” Professor Xavier said tactfully.

And that ended the initial meeting. I fear it set the tone for things to come.

L

--

This is L, reporting (regrettably) from the bathroom of La Bistro – a very elegant restaurant to which Watari invited us, Light included, for dinner.

So far, things have been guardedly polite, but I sense danger in the air. Or maybe I have become paranoid in my old age.

Oh no, Watari just came in and I just realized we've left Light to the mercy of Mello and Near! I'm going back ....

L

--

*forced smile*

I'm typing on my handheld under the table right now. L left and Watari politely asked me a few questions about my experiences in investigations.

Mello and Near of course listened like circling wolves and as soon as Watari excused himself, they pounced.

"It's obvious that you're very smart," Near began, staring at me fixedly.

"But don't make the mistake of thinking that you're as smart as L." Mello finished.

"I appreciate the compliment," I told Near, smiling as politely as I could manage. "As for whether or not I am as smart as L, I suppose that remains to be seen."

"We'll be watching." Mello whispered as L returned (looking about as frantic as I recall him ever looking).

I nodded, but I'm pretty sure they could see my irritation. "I know. I count on it."

"Count on what?" L asked, sliding back into his seat.

"Nothing." I forced a smile. I think L was going to say something else, but Watari is returning, so I'm going to go for the moment...

Light

--

I see that Light-kun has had the same idea I have about posting here during this ordeal, and now I can see exactly what Mello and Near said in my absence. I am very sorry, Light-kun.

Here I am back in the bathroom. They will undoubtedly think I have some sort of 'problem' with all these trips in a short span of time, but with the way I sit, I am unable to hide my phone under the table to write this.

I wish I could say things went better when Watari returned, but they did not, really. Conversation was again polite, but (except from Watari) never exactly friendly.

Then at one point, Near 'casually' said, "L, I heard that you've been in quite a lot of trouble since coming here."

My eyes snapped up from my food to stare at him. An attack on Light-kun I could understand, but on ME? My gaze shifted from Near to Watari, who was frowning slightly. "I would not say it was a LOT of trouble, Near," I answered carefully. "Just a couple of minor scrapes."

Mello gave a short laugh. "'Minor'? We heard you got WHIPPED for one of those 'minor' scrapes!"

"What?" Watari said, genuine fear on his face now. I was now honestly furious with both Mello and Near to make Watari worry like that (and to bring up matters I would have preferred to remain secret.)

"Light was involved as well," Near added. "In fact, we've been able to conclude that he has been involved in every incident in which you were disciplined since being here. Coincidence?" He looked toward Light. "I think not."

THERE was the attack on Light-kun. And they had been so determined
to make it that they had sacrificed me in the process.

"Ryuuzaki," Watari said (he won't call me L in public for safety reasons), "is there something you would like to tell me?"

I ground my teeth together but answered politely, "Later, yes. Once we're home. Right now, I need to go to the bathroom again."

It was do that, or stab my little 'brothers' with my pastry fork.

L

--

I put my fork and knife down. Once L and Watari were both gone again, Near kept staring and Mello crossed his arms. "Well? What do you say about that?"

"I'd say that the two of you could both use a lesson in manners," I ground out. "You hate me. Fine, I understand that. But you should at least trust L enough to let him make up his own mind about me." I stopped and smirked at them. "Or do you really not think that L is smarter than I am and you're doing this to protect him?"

"We know that L is smarter than you." Near replied, playing idly with his napkin, which he'd folded into an origami bird.

"Then you just embarrassed him in front of Watari for your own perverse pleasure?" I shook my head. "That hardly puts you in any kind of position to judge me."

"He *was* with you when he got into trouble." Mello snapped.

I leaned forward and smiled, but it wasn't meant to be kind. "Yes. He was. With me. And that's what this is really about, isn't it?"

"He deserves better." Near didn't look even a tiny bit upset, but Mello was flushed a dark red.

"He deserves to make up his own mind."

"You're nothing but a murderer." Mello lowered his voice, but he was obviously furious. Even Near's hands were shaking slightly.

I snorted. "I'm not Kira. But, even if I were - L hasn't been able to prove it." I looked him up and down, then did the same to Near. "Do you really think that the two of you would have better luck?"

I think at that point, Mello might have attempted to stab *me* with *his* pastry fork, but Near cleared his throat and nodded slightly in the direction of the bathroom, where L and Watari were returning.

"This isn't over." Mello hissed.

"Not by a long shot," I retorted. Let me just finish by saying that I will take great pleasure in sneaking L's hand below the table top once he sits down again. Watari won't notice, but I have no doubt that Mello and Near will.

I doubt they'll say anything, though. They mean this personally. (I also suspect that they are more than a little upset with L for his decisions of late as well. Forgive me if I don't give a damn what they think.)

Light

--

It wasn't over. I'm not sure what happened between L and Watari when they were both gone. L and I didn't have a chance to talk about it - for the entire rest of the evening.

I did take L's hand under the table. He seemed a little surprised at first, but he didn't pull away. If Watari noticed, he didn't give any indication. Near merely looked over and then away pointedly. Mello ... well Mello noticed and he didn't like it much, but I was right that he would choose to bide his time until he could retaliate personally.

If the conversation had been stilted before, it was nothing compared to how it proceeded afterward. It was reminiscent of a tennis match - every sentence was an attack, every response was a volley. It was brutal, but encased in politeness.

"It must be awkward to have so many superheroes watching your every move." That one came from Near.

"Inspiring, actually. It's easy to forget that beneath all of the flashy powers, intelligence is what counts the most."

"But it certainly hasn't always worked out for you." Mello slipped in, referring to his and Near's earlier comments about running afoul of the adults.

"Sometimes things don't work out like you want. You have to be adult enough to learn and move on."

"Light-kun and I are taking several classes that might be of interest to you." L interrupted and tried to lead the conversation back to safe ground. He told them about some of our classes with Batman and Dr. McCoy. Of course, that just led to other openings.

"How do you find the classes, Yagami-kun?" Watari asked politely and I turned to him, keenly aware that Near and Mello were watching me and L was glaring at both of them.

"They are challenging, but interesting. It is an honor to be able to study under such intelligent and gifted instructors."

"Not to mention having to learn what it feels like to be second best." Mello's confidence was grating.

"I admit, it stings to be second to L in Batman's class, but I take solace in the fact that I have scored higher than he has in Dr. McCoy's class. Our scores remain mostly identical." I raised an eyebrow at him.

The rest of the meal proceeded in much that same fashion. I don't believe that any of us ate much. We returned to the mansion immediately afterward and I attempted to excuse myself to my bedroom, but it appears that Mello and Near had determined to divide and conquer. Near followed me.

"Can I help you?" I asked.

He gave me a ghost of a smile and I knew that he was thinking of all the things that I could that would 'help' him and none of them are suggestions that he would make out loud.

"I simply wish to get to know you better, Yagami-kun."

"Hmmm." I smiled coldly, "Keep your friends close?" I asked and he nodded solemnly. "Wouldn't you rather spend time with L?" I demanded. "You came all this way to see him, did you not?"

"I'm sure that we will have time over the weekend to reminisce."

At this point, I gave up all pretences of being oblivious. "If you are determined to watch me all weekend, then you might as well come inside and make yourself comfortable."

"Thank you, Yagami-kun." He ignored my eye roll and came in and made himself comfortable on the floor, playing with some toy or other and ignoring me for the most part.

I returned the favor and started reading my book. But, Near has been as good as his word. He and/or Mello have been by my side ever since. They even stayed in the room so late last night that they fell asleep on the floor.

And, if anyone is wondering, no, the conversation did not get any nicer.

Light

--

What happened later at home was my having to confess everything; something I cursed Mello and Near for every moment of the following conversation.

Watari and I closed ourselves in the library for privacy, and I said, "I owe you an explanation for the remarks Mello and Near made concerning certain incidents."

"I was not aware you had been punished so severely in your stay here," Watari said gravely as he sat on the sofa. "I would like to know why."

I climbed up onto the seat beside him in my usual crouch and resigned myself to what I had to do. "Light-kun and I made a mistake. We performed experiments with Cerebro, a device Professor Xavier uses to amplify his telepathic powers. I still feel it was a valid test, but the adults took exception to it."

"And thus you were ... whipped?" He looked at me sadly. "You were never punished thusly at home. And in England, we believe in caning!"

I gave him a tiny smile in response to his comment. "There was no cane involved; just a belt. Logan-san's belt." I sighed. "But being whipped was not the real punishment. The worst of it was that he had Light-kun and I punish each other, as an extra incentive to never repeat the action."

"I'm sorry," Watari said earnestly. "When I decided to have you stay here, it was understood that matters of discipline were left to the staff to decide, but I had no idea something like this would happen to you." He paused and gave me a serious look. "However, despite the severity of the punishment, you still don't seem particularly sorry for what you did."

I tugged at the cuff of my jeans and shrugged. "Light-kun and I knew what we were doing."

"That may be, but this Cerebro did not belong to either of you, and it was not your place to tamper with it."

I nibbled on the tip of my thumb. Watari almost sounded disappointed in me -- no, he DEFINITELY sounded that way. I had never heard that note in his voice when addressing me before. I began to devise dire consequences for Mello and Near for bringing all of this up.

"Well," Watari said, patting me on the knee, "it's in the past, and I'm sure the punishment you received will keep you from doing it again. Shall we talk about something else?"

"Like Mello and Near?" I suggested, grateful for the change in subject.

"I was thinking more about you and Light-kun," he said. "It's obvious how much you mean to each other, or Mello and Near would not be able to upset either of you with their comments. Tell me -- do you believe him to be Kira?"

I didn't say anything for a long moment, but wished for some candy to keep my fingers busy. "I'm 15% certain."

Watari raised his eyebrows. He knows that when I talk in percentages -- any percentages -- I actually mean a percentage of over 90%. "And yet you love him," he said softly.

I nodded. "Until I can prove his guilt, I don't have to make any decisions about our relationship." I looked at him guiltily. "Some pillar of justice I am."

Watari knows I'm not a demonstrative person, and yet he also knew that I needed the hug he gave me just then.

"You're not just L, the detective. You're L, the teenage boy, and as rare as it is for someone to penetrate your emotions as Light-kun has, how can you help but respond?"

"I have a job to do," I insisted.

"Yes, and part of that job right now is to be here, enjoying your teenage years and all that comes with them." Watari stood up and turned to look down at me. "Light-kun is making you happy, I can tell. You smile when you look at him when he's not watching. Your voice changes when you talk about him. He's touched you."

I hoped I wasn't blushing at the double meaning of that statement, even if Watari had not meant it that way.

"Try not to worry about Mello and Near," he advised. "They're jealous of your affection for Light-kun, they can't help it."

"I understand that, but I cannot allow them to take pot-shots at him for the entire duration of their visit, even if we DO have a bet going."

"Bet?"

"Never mind. Let's go see what they're up to now."

So it could have gone worse, I suppose, but I was still angry with the boys for bringing up unnecessary things. Reading Light-kun's account of what happened while Watari and I were gone at the restaurant only serves to add fuel to that anger.

L

--

For those who I know are still keeping score - I got upstairs just as Watari was retiring for the evening. I bid him a good night and went into my room - hoping that it would be empty but for L.

I wasn't quite so lucky, but as I had announced my intentions, I couldn't very well back down. Going in, I saw L sitting crouched on his bed, Mello lounging in my desk chair and Near crouching on the floor.

"It's late." I didn't waste any time.

"So?" Mello asked.

"I'd like to spend the remainder of my evening without the surveillance, if you don't mind."

Near looked up at me. "Why?"

I couldn't help it. I laughed a little and removed my jacket and set it on the foot of my bed. Then I went over and sat down next to L, close enough that my leg was pressing into his calve. He turned to look at me, undoubtedly waiting to see what I would do.

I trailed one hand up along his back and then looked back at the two brats with a bigger smile. "You aren't old enough for me to tell you why."

"Light-kun," L's voice was ever so slightly warning and he shook his head just slightly.

"We are aware that there are certain intimacies involved with having a boyfriend," Near answered. "It is not a surprise."

"Even if your boyfriend is a murderer." Mello added, snarkily.

I glanced over at him. "Alleged murderer, thank you." I could hear L sigh, undoubtedly preparing some way to extricate himself from the situation and I decided I wasn't going to give him that chance.

This was my room. This was my boyfriend. And I could tell from the way he hadn't moved away from my hand that he didn't really object that much. I turned and knelt on the bed next to him. "They don't seem to object to seeing 'certain intimacies'," I challenged, and then I kissed him.

As kisses go, it was nice. He was tense, but he certainly didn't push me away. After a second I broke off and glanced over at the brats. If looks could kill, I'd definitely be dead. L might be dead as well - I'm not sure how much of that hostility was aimed solely at me.

I stood up and went back over to my side of the room. "Now, at the risk of sounding rude..." I trailed off and they both continued to glare at me.

"You should sleep in your room." L finished, helpfully. I had the gloating surprise of seeing Mello and Near look surprised, but they grudgingly left - leaving me with L who was staring at me thoughtfully.

"What?"

"I was debating whether your actions might have cost you the bet." He replied and I shrugged.

"The bet requires there to be some sort of negative outcome due to my actions." I went back to him and sat down. "Having the two of them out of our room for the night seems a *positive* outcome, if you ask me."

He smiled. "It definitely has its perks."

And that is where I will end the story for now. The saga continues...

Light

--

I reached my limit with Mello and Near today.

Not long after breakfast this morning, I went looking for them so that I could find out if they wanted to go shopping while they were in the city, but they were nowhere around. I finally went back to my room to get my phone so I could call them when I found them both already in there, sitting on the floor with my laptop, going through my files. Those files are not for public viewing, and in fact, I had several passwords and blocks on them. The fact that they’d managed to break through them said a lot for the progress they’ve made since I last saw them.

For the first moment after I walked in, I was too shocked to react. But only for a moment. I slammed the door behind me, causing the two of them to spin around and stare up at me.

“L!” Mello cried. “You nearly scared us to death!”

“I shall have to try harder next time,” I said in a tone that likely sounded as bitter as I felt. “For now, I demand to know why you feel you are justified in going through my private files.”

The two of them exchanged one of those looks I am beginning to loathe and then they both looked at me. “We figured it’s only a matter of time before you decide to pull out of the Kira investigation,” Mello said.

“So we thought we would borrow the files you’ve compiled so far,” Near finished. “It will make it easier when we take over.”

I had to slow my breathing to keep from shouting at them for the first time in my life. “And pray tell, what exactly made you think that I will stop my own investigation?” I asked, already knowing what their answer would be.

“Is it not obvious?” Near replied mildly.

“Conflict of interests,” Mello spelled it out bluntly. “You can’t conduct an unbiased investigation when you’re screwing the prime suspect.”

I felt heat in my face but it was not embarrassment; it was fury. Without thinking twice, I reached down and yanked Mello up by the collar, using my left foot to shove Near onto his face and pin him there.

“L!” they both cried.

With my free hand I pulled Light’s task chair under me and sat on it, but not in my usual fashion, no. For this, I needed a lap.

“What are you DOING?!” Mello yelled as I yanked him across my knees, still holding Near against the floor with my foot.

“Something I should have done long ago,” I answered, tugging his pants down. “You should be happy, Mello. You are getting what you always wanted; to be first instead of Near.” I gave Mello’s now-bare backside a hearty wallop that he responded to with an outraged shout.

It was only the first of many to come. I had already known that Mello was a noisy spankee – he had been punished by Roger many times before at Wammy’s House. While this was nothing new to him in theory, it was certainly the first time that _I_ had administered any kind of punishment to either of them. I believe that was why he not only yelled, but began to cry.

His bottom was flaming red when I let him go and he moved quickly out of the way, hiccupping and trying to hide his tears, as I reached down for Near. The quieter blonde did not put up a fight, nor did he make a sound, but that did not mean I showed him mercy. I had memorized the exact number of swats and intensity with which I had spanked Mello and I delivered precisely the same punishment to Near. When I was done and let him stand and dress himself, his shoulders were shaking and I could hear him sniffling.

I stood up and caught both of them in the tightest hug I could manage. “I love you both very much – do not ever doubt that. But I also love Light-kun, and while his being Kira or not remains to be proven, I will not have either of you interfering in either my investigation or our relationship. If there is any conflict of interests around here, it is you two wanting Light-kun to be Kira simply because you dislike him for supposedly taking me away from you.” I moved back and kept a hand on both of their shoulders so I could look from one to another. “If you truly love me, you should be happy for me. I have done what Watari wanted me to do – I’ve lived as much like a normal teenager here as I am capable of, and that includes a boyfriend I love very much.” I sighed. “I will not stop my investigation, and if it turns out that Light-kun is Kira, I will deal with my pain as anyone else would in discovering a terrible truth about their lover.” My tone was resolute, “But I would still bring him to justice.”

Near rubbed at his eyes and nodded miserably. “I’m sorry, L,” he murmured.

Mello pouted between sniffles. “Me too.”

I kissed them both on the top of the head. “If you mean that, you will apologize to Light-kun as well before the day is out.”

I await word now on whether or not they did so. I sincerely hope they did, and then maybe we can spend the remainder of this visit engaging in much more pleasant group activities.

L

--

I apologize for my delay in posting. I know that several of you are interested to see how the visit turned out - especially in light of L's rather surprising actions.

For the record, I was unaware of the scene that transpired between the Brats and L until much later in the day. I was watching the news downstairs, waiting to see if we were going to go shopping when I heard someone clear their throat. Turning, I saw Mello and Near staring at me. This was not unusual, but their expressions were certainly cause for alarm.

"What's wrong?" I demanded, standing up.

"We wish to inform you," Near spoke first after a long moment of neither of them saying a word, "that should you be cleared of suspicion by L, we will apologize for our behavior."

I was caught completely off guard by this turn of events, so I just waited for the other shoe to fall. "And we are sorry that we interfered with L's right to choose his own boyfriend." Mello added.

Neither of them were looking directly at me, so I'm sure they didn't see my confusion or my irritation. "Alright."

Mello looked up and the hint of embarrassment was replaced by irritation. "That's it?"

"What did you expect? You informed me that you *may* apologize for your behavior towards me in the future, and you *are* apologizing for the way you treated L." I shook my head. "While I am grateful on L's behalf, it is not my place to speak for him and you've offered nothing for which I am grateful on my own behalf."

They both stared at me again. I confess, it was increasingly grating as the weekend went on. "What are you thinking about in your devious little heads?"

"That L has made an interesting choice," Near again spoke first.

"And that we don't really like you." Mello added.

I smiled. "That's alright. I don't really like either of you, but you are L's family and - for whatever reason - he seems to like you. I know where I stand with you. That's good enough for me."

"Then may we assume that we can call a truce for the remainder of our visit?" Near inquired.

"You may assume whatever you'd like," I retorted. "I said I knew where I stood with you. That doesn't mean that I accept it."

"Don't be an ass," Mello snapped. "We're trying to be nice for L's sake."

I laughed. "If this is your version of nice..."

"It is." He cut me off, arms folded. I considered him for a long moment.

"Fine. I will accept our temporary truce," I spoke slowly. "But..."

"It changes nothing." Mello nodded. "We're fine with that."

"So am I."

Just then, L called down to us to let us know that we would be leaving in a few moments to go to the mall. Mello and Near both walked (stiffly) back upstairs, leaving me to try and figure out what the hell had just happened.
